Biography

John made decisions early in adult life to choose work which didn't compromise his commitment to People-care and Earth-care.  Although qualified in Environmental Health, he decided not to work for a constraining organisation but to be self-employed, and gravitated toward the ‘fun’ and ‘meaningful’ for paid work.  Professor Fiddlesticks offers a minimal-consumption skill and learning-based fun activity, whereas Compost John focuses on what ordinary people can do to practically look after the planet, by recycling, growing food and nurturing ecosystems.  

John is diagnosed autistic and has used one of the traits – being geeky and learning everything there is to know about certain subjects, to become an expert – and loves sharing his passions.  He has crafted unique ways to earn a small living ethically, honestly and authentically.  He looks forward to meeting  new collaborators and clients.

John lives in York, is married and has two adult children.
