John can teach you the dos and don’ts of composting, as well as set up and maintain compost bins, so that you can break down organic waste at home and enrich your garden soil. John also makes and sells artisan compost and small volumes of growing media.

HEDGE / TREE TRIMMING

If you need help with maintaining your garden John offers tree and hedge trimming and tree management. John has had chainsaw training & takes away material. Please get in touch to discuss your gardening needs.

COMPOST EXPERT TALKS

John is one of the UK's leading compost educators, and offers entertaining and fact-filled talks with workshops on home composting. Clients include gardening clubs, WI groups, U3A groups, Scouts/Guides, humanists and allotmenteers.

WORMERY ADVICE

John can help you to set up a wormery, as an alternative to a full-sized compost bin. John can supply worms. John is also happy to manage the system when full, giving you a small pile of the richest ‘black gold’ nature has to offer.

COMPOST BINS

John buys and sells compost bins, so if you have an unwanted bin, John can get it re-used. If you want a pallet-based compost system, John can build and install one for you using recycled pallets. John makes and sells compost and growing media, from bulk unriddled rich food waste compost (typically in 20kg sacks) through to sieved container mix, made from rich compost, biochar, leafmould and loam. John is also a compost toilet enthusiast and can help you with a system that works for you.

PHILOSOPHY

John has lived a 'deep green' and low impact life since the 1980s and passionately believes we should nurture and protect our planet. Healthy soil is vital for our food systems and all ecology relying on plants. Composting cycles nutrients and sequesters carbon. John dedicates much of his time promoting this kind philosophy, teaching groups and offering practical help to individuals.
